Developer Bungie's loot-based online-only shooter is back in the first gameplay trailer for Destiny 2.

The clip, released Thursday during a live-stream presentation from Hawthorne, Calif. that formally introduced the game, features the franchises signature vendor and meet-up hub The Tower, destroyed by a Cabal threat known as the Red Legion that is led by a new foe named Ghaul.

The trailer features what will be the first mission in Destiny 2 as players will attempt to protect the Tower from the oncoming onslaught.

The ensuing battle features looks at new weapons types, armor pieces, vehicles to man including a tank and new Super abilities such as a throwable shield that Defender Titans can use during combat.

"Your journey ends here," Ghaul says anonymously amongst the Tower's destruction. "Experience an all new cinematic story campaign, innovative cooperative gameplay, and intense competitive multiplayer as you journey across unexplored worlds to discover an arsenal of weapons and devastating new combat abilities," reads the synopsis.

Destiny 2 will release on Playstation 4 and Xbox One on Sept. 8. For the first time, the series is coming to PC with Destiny 2 set to release exclusively on Blizzard's online gaming platform,
