Clay desperately wanted to continue fighting for Becca's heart on the show because he considered the Minnesota publicist a "rare find," but doctors advised him to undergo immediate surgery in order to continue and sustain his career in the NFL.
Clay seemed to really care about Becca and only want what's best for her, so how did he handicap the remaining Season 14 competition?
During a Tuesday appearance on NFL Network's Good Morning Football show, Clay was asked to name frontrunners for Becca's heart -- or at least guys he believes viewers should keep an eye on.
"All the guys, we all have a big group text... I actually hung out with a few of those guys after the show. So I know what happens, but I can't tell you guys! I'll just say it will be the most dramatic season ever!" Clay said, adding that he formed "great bonds" with these men.
"Because you're on this show and you don't have your phone, you don't have TV, there's no radio, there's nothing. It's like a personality retreat -- a personality rehab. You have nothing to entertain yourself but communicating with these other guys, and you're all here in this crazy environment."
From coffees to alcoholic drinks, Clay said the journey was stressful because there's a lack of sleep and everyone was pursuing the same girl.
"There's a lot of testosterone in that house. So you do form some bonds, and it's quick. A week in the mansion is like a year of regular time because you have no connection with the outside world," Clay explained on Good Morning Football.
Clay said it's not easy to compete against guys who are also your close friends but he's used to it from being in the NFL.
"You wish them luck, but in real life, you're like, 'I've got to out-do you,'" Clay noted. "There's still that competition factor. You want them to do well, and you want to see them succeed, but in the end, you want to be the one that ultimately stands and get the rose at the end."
