The popular New Zealand action-dramedy series "The Almighty Johnsons" is to start airing in the United States next year, Syfy said Tuesday.

Season 1 will consist of 10 episodes, while Season 2 will have 13.

Starring Emmett Skilton, Tim Balme, Dean O'Gorman and Jared Turner, the show follows the Johnson brothers, "four typical fun-loving guys -- who have inherited the power of Norse Gods," a synopsis said.

"We're delighted to introduce quality New Zealand programming to the Syfy audience," Chris Regina, the network's senior vice president of programming, said in a statement.

"A compelling blend of fantasy and comedy, this quirky series should resonate strongly with our viewers."

"'The Almighty Johnsons' will be the first wholly New Zealand originated and produced drama series to be broadcast in the United States, which is a terrific accomplishment and reflects the quality of the series," said Kelly Martin, chief executive officer of South Pacific Pictures, the show's producers.
