Copenhagen police said a man looking "to get home quickly" climbed into the back of what he thought was a taxi cab Thursday in the city's Christiania district, which is known as a prime location for the Danish drug trade.

The man "received a big surprise when he realized it was actually a police car he was sitting in," police said. "The police officers were happy to see him, since he was carrying around 1,000 joints."

Police initially said the man would be let go with a fine, but later said the suspect was being arrested and would face charges.
