Survivor featured Shauhin Davari getting voted out of his Niu Nai tribe after Kyle Fraser came up with an epic plan to take him out during the Season 48 episode that aired Wednesday night on CBS.

Shauhin, a 38-year-old debate professor from East Bay, CA, who currently resides in Costa Mesa, CA, was voted out of Survivor 48 through a 4-2 vote at Tribal Council on Night 23 of the game instead of Mitch Guerra, a 34-year-old P.E. coach from Waco, TX.

"Oh man, it's hard to believe that it's over, dude. It's really hard to believe that it's over," Shauhin said in his final words.

"I don't even know what I'm supposed to say right now. Hopefully I've made a lot of my friends and family happy."

The Survivor broadcast began on Night 21 with the Final 6 celebrating their success.

Mitch said he had been waiting to make a move and now was the time.

But Eva Erickson, a 24-year-old PhD candidate from Eagan, MN, who currently resides in Providence, RI -- who still had an idol to play -- intended on remaining four strong with Shauhin; Kyle, a 31-year-old attorney from Roanoke, VA, who currently resides in Brooklyn, NY; and Joe Hunter, a 45-year-old fire captain from Vacaville, CA, who currently resides in West Sacramento, CA.

"It should be pretty cut and dry and we just pick off the other members," Eva told the Survivor cameras.

On Day 22, Joe said even if Mitch or Kamilla Karthigesu, a 31-year-old software engineer from Toronto, Canada, who currently resides in Foster City, CA, won immunity, the other person would go.

The group of four, however, agreed that Mitch should go next, if possible, because no one wanted to sit next to him in the end.

Meanwhile, Kyle had to decide if he wanted to stick with the four or ride with Mitch and Kamilla on the next vote. Kyle acknowledged he'd been playing with his heart and it was time to play with his head.

Mitch told Shauhin it was time to play, but Shauhin had to decide whether to go with Eva and Joe. He wondered if he could beat Joe or if he was delusional. In Shauhin's mind, he was playing the better game of the two men.

For Kamilla's part, she wanted Joe gone so someone else would have a chance to win Individual Immunity. But Kamilla was annoyed Kyle wasn't jumping onboard with this plan feet first. She said he was playing a game of chicken with Shauhin to see who would betray Joe and Eva first.

Kamilla admitted she was tired of letting Joe and Eva make all the decisions.

Later that day, the Niu Nai tribe met Survivor host Jeff Probst for a Reward Challenge in the middle of a storm.

For the challenge, each castaway had to hold very small hand holds to secure themselves against a steep ramp suspended over water. At regular intervals, they'd move to smaller hand holds, making it more difficult. If a player dropped, he or she would be out.

The winner would receive burgers, French fries, beer, wine and soft drinks at the Survivor sanctuary, where he or she would also spend the night and be able to sleep with pillows and blankets.

In addition, the winner would earn a letter from home.

Everyone successfully transitioned to the smallest hand holds at the bottom of the ramp. It was at this point you could see pain on each castaway's face.

Kamilla was the first person out of the challenge, and then she was followed by Mitch, Eva, and Joe.

The challenge became a showdown between Shauhin and Kyle.

In the end, Shauhin lasted "a very long time," according to Jeff, and won Reward.

It was Shauhin's first challenge win, and Shauhin had gotten the job done for his mother.

Shauhin picked Joe to join him on Reward because he said Joe was so in touch with his emotions and clearly adores his children. Shauhin got to pick one more person, and that person was Kyle because his wedding was in one month.

It was a very emotional moment when the men got to read their letters from home. Joe also shared with his friends how he had fought with his sister on the phone one night only to lose her to domestic violence the next day. The sanctuary visit clearly bonded the men even more.

Joe also told Shauhin that he wanted them to be in the Final 3 with Eva.

But Shauhin spoke to Kyle about how they were in the middle and were perfect allies as a result. Shauhin said it only made sense for them to work together.

Shauhin pointed out how it would be silly for either of them to attempt to win at the fire making challenge against Joe, a fire captain.

"I think the only real play at six is getting rid of Eva," Shauhin told Kyle.

Kyle realized Shauhin was ready to make a move. Shauhin said they'd be able to flush Eva's idol but Kyle really needed to trust him in order to achieve this outcome.

Kyle never really trusted Shauhin before, and so he decided to come up with a way to paint a target on Shauhin's back. Kyle apparently wanted Shauhin out next.

Back at camp, Mitch admitted he was frustrated because it seemed like no one wanted to make a big move. Kamilla also felt like her fellow castaways were ready to hand Joe $1 million.

"By choosing to fuel Joe, I feel like Shauhin may have sealed his fate. So if Joe wins immunity, Shauhin needs to go," Kamilla told the Survivor cameras.

On Day 23, Kyle told Kamilla that they could throw Shauhin under the bus by telling Joe and Eva that Shauhin was targeting Eva next.

"I'm trying to figure out a way for Kamilla and I to guarantee ourselves to the Final 4," Kyle explained in a Survivor confessional.

"And the only way I can think to do it is to actually get rid of Shauhin but to do it without getting blood on Kamilla and I's hands. On the contrary, I need it to look like Kamilla and I saved Joe and Eva by saying that Shauhin is trying to flip and you're the target."

Kyle therefore came up with a plan to tell Joe that Shauhin had shown Kamilla that he had found the idol.

Kamilla thought the plan was "absolutely wild," but she was excited to go along with it.

Kyle loved the idea of Joe and Eva being indebted to them as the game progressed, and Kamilla realized Kyle was extremely smart. Kamilla admitted she probably never would have been able to come up with such a plan.

"This plan is risky... but we're going to frame Shauhin tonight!" Kamilla boasted to the Survivor cameras.

On Day 23, the Niu Nai tribe met Jeff for the season's next Individual Immunity Challenge.

Jeff instructed the castaways to toss a sandbag, releasing a rope. That rope would be used for balance as they walked on a barrel and made their way down the course. After crawling under a net and retrieving a bag of balls, they'd maneuver two balls through a winding snake trap.

The first person to finish would win immunity and be safe at Tribal Council. As a member of the Final 5, he or she would be featured on the Survivor 48 finale.

The next person voted out of the tribe would become the 13th person voted out of Survivor 48 and the sixth member of the jury.

In the end, Joe won his fourth Immunity necklace. He was only one win away from tying an elite Immunity win record.

Kamilla said Joe had completely smoked everyone in the challenge because he was well rested and well fed and so Shauhin had ruined his own game by feeding Joe.

After the challenge, Kyle set his plan into motion.

"Don't freak out, but Shauhin flipped," Kyle told Joe, who appeared totally shocked.

Kyle thought that if Joe was scared about Shauhin having an idol, he wouldn't go to Shauhin to confront him about this. Kyle knew Joe would realize that if people were onto Shauhin, Shauhin would play his idol to keep himself safe.

Joe was paying attention to Kyle's body language and eye contact.

Joe recognized that Kyle could be telling a lie, and so he asked Kyle for some time to think about his story. Joe then connected with Eva to hash out the details.

Eva said Shauhin flipping on them felt like a punch in the gut. Eva said she got a better vibe from Kyle than Shauhin, but the pair didn't know whom to believe and trust.

Joe then confronted Kamilla, who corroborated Kyle's story. Joe was just shocked that Shauhin had never shown him this alleged idol even once.

Kamilla was afraid to get caught in all these lies.

Shauhin then asked Joe to stay four strong and vote out Mitch. Joe asked Shauhin if any idols or advantages were in play, and Shauhin firmly replied, "No."

Joe told Shauhin there was some chaos on the beach, but Shauhin assured him that everything was still going according to plan.

Joe told Shauhin that he was going to figure something out, and Shauhin had no idea why Joe was acting bummed and treating him like a child on time out. Joe had pissed Shauhin off, and he vented to everyone in the tribe about it.

Shauhin then told Kyle that Mitch was the right move because Eva had no shot to win the game in the Final 3. Kyle played along because he said he didn't want to reveal his alliance with Kamilla until the very end of the game.

Kamilla said she wouldn't mind getting voted out if it was after she had tried to make a massive move. She boasted about how she and Kyle were working the game hard.

Walking into Tribal Council, Joe was desperate to discover whether Kyle, Shauhin or Kamilla was lying to him.

At Tribal Council on Night 23, Shauhin spoke about how he planned to rely on the foundation he had built up to this point in the game. Joe was trying to get a read on Shauhin and Kyle the entire time.

After the castaways voted, Jeff read the votes aloud in the following order: Shauhin, Mitch, Mitch, Shauhin, Shauhin, and Shauhin.

Joe and Eva ultimately decided to believe Kyle and take out Shauhin. The episode's closing credits later showed that Shauhin and Kamilla had voted for Mitch.
