Traffic on a highway in Kentucky was delayed for several hours after a truck carrying hundreds of pigs overturned.

The crash occurred at about 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday when the semi-truck carrying 150 pigs headed to a Swift plant in Louisville overturned in the northbound ramp of an interstate, WDRB reported.

Some of the pigs were killed in the impact of the crash, while others were sent wandering along the interstate.

"You know it's a hurt feeling, and I hurt, too," LMPD Traffic Unit investigator Donney Smith told WAVE. "I don't like it."

Swift plant officials arrived at the scene and euthanized some of the the injured pigs and loaded the rest of the pigs onto another truck headed for the plant.

The driver of the truck was taken to a local hospital after sustaining minor injuries in the crash.

Authorities said no other vehicles were involved in the crash and speed was not a factor, noting the truck's load shifted and caused it to overturn.
