Nick Offerman has joined the cast of Amazon's adaptation of Good Omens.
The 47-year-old actor will play the U.S. Ambassador and father to Warlock, the child mistaken for the Antichrist, in the six-part series, according to Entertainment Weekly. The show is based on the Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett book Good Omens.
Offerman will star alongside Michael Sheen and David Tennant, who will portray the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley, respectively. Gaiman had nothing but praise for the Parks and Recreation alum in a statement Tuesday.
"There may not be anyone alive who can deadpan a line quite as well as Nick Offerman," the author said. "He's a terrific performer, and has a lot of things in Good Omens that are humanly impossible to deliver with a straight face. Fortunately, Nick is not entirely human. We are very lucky to have him."
Gaiman also confirmed Offerman's casting in a tweet Tuesday after teasing a "mysterious guest star" over the past week.
"Seen here testing local drums for a 2 year old for volume+suitability (none of them were loud enough): our Secret Guest Star. Ladies, Gentleman & All Others, as the father (sort of) of Warlock Dowling, the (Not-) Antichrist, I present the temporarily beardless Mr @Nick_Offerman," he captioned a photo with the actor.
Offerman responded to Gaiman's post Tuesday morning on Twitter.
"Sometimes instead of lemons this life hands you a tiny drum and a sagacious friend who likes tea and a giggle @neilhimself," he wrote.
