Planet Green announced it has ordered Battleground Earth, a new reality series following former Rock Star Supernova member Tommy Lee and rapper Chris "Ludacris" Bridges as they travel across the country and educate viewers on the importance of being environmentally friendly.

The 10-episode series is scheduled to premiere this August on Planet Green, a new cable network Discovery Communications plans to launch on June 4.

Battleground Earth will follow Lee and Ludacris as they travel across America and enlist the help of their friends, celebrity guests, and anyone else willing to lend a hand while competing in various challenges designed to highlight environmentally friendly issues.

For example, when Lee and Ludacris' bio-diesel tour buses are running low on fuel in the middle of the Texas Panhandle, the two approach a local fast-food restaurant and attempt to transform the food's grease into eco-friendly fuel.

Battleground Earth will culminate at Los Angeles' Greek Theater with a "green carpet benefit concert," with the show's two stars and "many of their famous musician friends" supporting the renewal of Griffith Park, which was devastated by recent wildfires in the area.

While Battleground Earth represents Ludacris' first reality television role, Lee is no stranger to the genre.

Lee starred in NBC's Tommy Lee Goes to College -- a reality series that followed the Motley Crue drummer as he enrolled at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and dealt with various contrived collegiate situations -- in 2005.

He subsequently starred in CBS' Rock Star: Supernova, a Summer 2006 reality series that sought to find a lead singer for a new band comprised of Lee, former Metallica guitarist Jason Newsted, and former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke.

Battleground Earth is produced for Planet Green by the Greif Company.
