Martin Freeman's mysterious role in the upcoming Marvel superhero epic, "Captain America: Civil War" has now been revealed.

In the latest issue of Empire, the magazine discloses that Freeman will be playing a familiar character in the Black Panther series of comics, Everett Ross.

Ross has been portrayed in the past as a U.S government agent stationed in the fictional nation of Wakanda, which the Black Panther resides and rules over. A new set photo released by Empire shows Ross standing next to a group of German soldiers including Captain America's friend and former neighbor, Sharon Carter played by Emily VanCamp.

The reveal hints at Freeman tying into the upcoming "Black Panther" movie starring Chadwick Boseman, who is also a featured character fighting on Iron Man's side in "Civl War." Recently, "Creed" helmer Ryan Coogler was confirmed as the director for the solo "Black Panther" project that is set for release on Feb. 16, 2018.

The villainous Crossbones was also revealed for "Civil War" seen wearing a heavily-plated Skull suited set of armor.

"Captain America: Civil War" opens in theaters May 6, 2016.
