Married at First Sight star Taylor Dunklin admits her family initially thought she was crazy for wanting to marry a stranger, but once she explained how badly she wanted to be a wife, her loved ones eventually came around.

As shown on the premiere of Married at First Sight's tenth season earlier this month, Taylor's family was a bit skeptical of the extreme experiment and nervous about Taylor marrying a man she had never met before and knew nothing about.

"My mom and my aunt, they thought I was crazy," Taylor admitted during Wednesday night's episode of Married at First Sight: Unfiltered.

"They were like, 'What are you doing?!'"

But while Taylor's family wasn't happy or onboard with the show's premise, they still decided to support Taylor on her big day.

"When I started [the process], I don't think they knew how much I really wanted to be a wife and how much this was going to mean to me and how much this was going to change my life for the better," Taylor shared.

Taylor said her family started thinking positively once Taylor opened her heart to them and explained why Married at First Sight was the right decision for her at the time.

"I explained the process and they came around," noted Taylor, who married Brandon Reid on the show's currently-airing tenth season.

"And I was so happy because I needed them to do this moving forward."

Married at First Sight expert Dr. Pepper and Taylor's Season 10 co-star Derek Sherman also joined Taylor on the Unfiltered broadcast, which was hosted by Season 1 MAFS participant Jamie Otis.

The group watched back a MAFS clip of Derek's conservative and religious mother also coming around to the idea of her son marrying a stranger.

Derek's mother told him in tears he's always been her rock and she didn't want to lose him. She said she just wanted Derek's bride to like her because his future wife would be crazy not to fall in love with his "heart of pure gold."

"It's really touching, it really is," Dr. Pepper said after tearing up.

"I go from my expert heart to my parent heart and my mom's heart, and that kind of scene between a son and a mom is just wonderful."

"Watching that, I definitely got a little emotional, knowing she was supportive of this when I know at first she wasn't," said Derek, who wed Katie Conrad on Season 10 of the Lifetime reality series.

"And I never really wanted to be in a marriage where I don't have my family supporting me, especially with a process as crazy as this. But having that unconditional love really meant a lot."

"So sweet," Jamie noted, also almost in tears. "It's so sweet. I hope you get that with your future wife, you deserve it."

Dr. Pepper then shared some words of wisdom for parents of future Married at First Sight participants who may have a hard time with the process.

"Part of it is letting go," Dr. Pepper shared. "It's sort of like being a handrail -- you don't need it to go up the stairs, but if you decide you do need it, the handrail is right there."

"And I think that's the way I would encourage a parent to be. Your child needs your love and your support," the MAFS expert elaborated.

"You're all on this new journey together. Embrace it, because what's your other choice? If you don't embrace it, you distance yourself from your child because they're going to do this. And you don't want to distance your child, ever."

Taylor and Derek were definitely in a better position than their MAFS co-star Mindy Shiben, who married Zach Justice on the show without the support of her parents. Mindy's parents didn't even show up to the wedding.

The other two couples starring on Married at First Sight this season are Meka Jones and Michael Watson as well as Jessica Studer and Austin Hurd.

Married at First Sight currently airs on Wednesday nights at 8PM ET/PT on Lifetime.
