A man who chased his wind-blown hat onto a Dallas County, Iowa, highway was listed in good condition after he was hit by a sport utility vehicle.

Rick Uvaney was hit by an SUV driven by Tamara Boyle at about 5:20 p.m. Saturday, the Des Moines (Iowa) Register reported Tuesday.

A release from the Iowa State Patrol said Uvaney was securing a load on the driver's side of a semi when his hat was caught by the wind.

"The victim attempted to retrieve the hat and ran into the left lane where he was struck by" Boyle's 2002 Ford Expedition, the release said.

Boyle's vehicle then swerved into the right lane and sideswiped the semi.

No charges were filed against Boyle.
