Lisa Hochstein on fleeing Hurricane Irma via private jet: "I don't need to apologize"

UPI News Service, 09/12/2017

Lisa Hochstein was unapologetic after fleeing Hurricane Irma via private jet over the weekend.

The 35-year-old "The Real Housewives of Miami" alum responded to backlash Monday on Instagram after posting a photo of her family's evacuation by private plane.

"Although it's none of your damn business we were not the only ones in this plane," Hochstein wrote. "Every seat was occupied and my son had to sit in my lap. EVERYONE IS POSTING ON SM about how they escaped! This happens to be mine and I don't need to apologize or hide to ANYONE ABOUT HOW WE DO SO."

"We also did not have paper work for our dogs to fly commercial as every vet was closed and every flight was booked and there is no way in hell we would leave them behind," she added. "Fortunately we were able to get a plane to take them with us."

Hochstein, who shares 2-year-old son Logan with husband Leonard Hochstein, initially shared the picture of her family smiling outside the private jet Friday. She said in her original caption that they allowed friends to remain in their Miami home.

"I'm praying for everyone who already has been devastated by this hurricane and pray that Somehow by a miracle Florida is not hit so hard," the star wrote. "And YES we let some friends stay at our home because it's a little safer then theirs! They will be fine!!!"

Hochstein's former "The Real Housewives of Miami" co-star Joanna Krupa was among those to criticize the star's post online.

"All those A holes posting and showing off w their private jets in Miami, why don't u offer help families and animals that can't get out?" the 38-year-old model tweeted.

"Otherwise stop posting and showing off when people and animals are being left behind during this catastrophic hurricane. Idiots!" she added.

Hochstein and Krupa starred in Seasons 2 and 3 of "The Real Housewives of Miami," which ended after Season 3 on Bravo.
