Katie Holmes says daughter Suri was happy to spend time with her on "The Kennedys" set.

The 38-year-old actress said the 10-year-old, whom she shares with ex-husband Tom Cruise, wasn't fazed by her dramatic transformations for "The Kennedys: After Camelot."

"She's pretty used to it because she's grown up on a lot of sets," she told "Access Hollywood" at the Reelz miniseries' premiere Wednesday.

"She enjoys it and she's very creative herself, so she gets it and she understands what we're going for. She's a great partner."

Holmes portrays former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy at several ages on the show, and also directed Episode 3 of the series.

"After Camelot" director Jon Cassar and Kristin Booth, who plays Ethel Kennedy, also discussed Suri's time on set at the premiere.

"Katie actually made her a chair that said 'Director,'" Cassar told People.

"She would get hair and makeup done," Booth added. "When I see Katie wearing the hat of the director, as the star, and being a mom, she's so inspiring, and she's really someone to look up to, for sure. And Suri's adorable."

Holmes split from Cruise in 2012 after five years of marriage, and has since been linked to actor Jamie Foxx. She told "Entertainment Tonight" in October that Suri inspired her directorial debut, All We Had.

"She gets a special thanks for everything, [for] every job I do, because she makes every day great and awesome and better," the star gushed. "I know myself better because of her."

"The Kennedys: After Camelot" will premiere April 2 on Reelz.
