The former LA Ink star is in the process of recording a debut music album, E! News reported Tuesday.

"I've been passionate about music all my life," Von D told E! News.

"I've been playing classical piano since I was six. So I understand the form, but it will be fun to be able to translate a message."

While the reality TV star acknowledged she has no professional singing experience, she expressed how music serves as another creative outlet for her.

"I think it's much like tattooing or the TV show or makeup, my clothing line, fashion," Von D explained. "All those things, they're just different outlets to be able to be creative. So music, I think it's going to be one of those things."

According to the tattoo artist, her first album's sound will be "more on the dark, more tragically romantic" side.

TLC had announced the cancellation of LA Ink in August, stating the network had "decided" to end the show with the broadcast of its fourth-season finale on September 15. However, Von D challenged TLC's statement and insisted it was her choice to end the series.
