Josh Duhamel is joining the cast of a Netflix adaptation of Jupiter's Legacy.

Variety confirmed the 46-year-old actor will star in the new show, which is based on the superhero comic book series Jupiter's Legacy by Mark Millar and Frank Quitely.

Leslie Bibb, Ben Daniels, Matt Lanter, Elena Kampouris, Andrew Horton and Mike Wade will also have leading roles in the new series.

Jupiter's Legacy follows the world's first generation of superheroes, who received their powers in the 1930s. The group is revered in present day, but their children struggle to live up to their parents' legacies.

Duhamel plays Sheldon Sampson, aka The Utopian, the leader of the superhero team The Union. Daniels portrays Walter Sampson, aka, Brain-Wave, Sheldon's older brother, with Bibb as Grace Sampson, aka Lady Liberty, Sheldon's wife.

In addition, Kampouris and Horton play Chloe and Brandon Sampson, the daughter and son of Sheldon and Grace. Wade portrays Fitz Small, aka The Flare, with Lanter as George Hutchence, aka Skyfox.

Steven S. DeNight will serve as showrunner and write and direct the pilot episode. He will also executive produce the show with Millar, Quitely, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Dan McDermott.

Deadline said Jupiter's Legacy is the first of several planned series and movies based on Millar and Quitely's works. The pair signed a deal with Netflix in July.
