Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart may have pulled a fast one on everyone.

According to sources close to the pair, Lopez and Smart are together -- but they never actually broke up, TMZ reported.

The couple's decision to split in June 2014 was reportedly a business move because the American Idol judge had been promoting her movie Boy Next Door and film executives thought it would help ticket sales if rumors circulated she was dating her good-looking younger co-star Ryan Guzman.

The sources told TMZ that Lopez and Casper stopped seeing each other for only a few weeks last spring and then quickly rekindled their romance.

However, the plot reportedly didn't just benefit Lopez, 45.

Smart, 27, had been shooting his own movie Street at the time in which he played a UFC fighter, and it was more advantageous for him to pretend to be single.

The report would seem to make sense since Lopez and Smart have been spotted together on numerous occasions since their so-called June 2014 breakup.

Two months afterwards, the couple was photographed riding together in a convertible BMW, and once Lopez caught eyes with a paparazzo, she slumped down into the passenger seat as to hide from cameras.

In January 2015 -- when Lopez bluntly told Us Weekly she was single -- Smart's dog was at her house and the situation made headlines because the dog ended up biting one of Lopez's neighbors. The couple, according to TMZ, was later caught walking the streets together, going into restaurants and even dancing at a Big Sean concert.

Lopez and Smart dated for three years before allegedly calling it quits last summer. They got involved only four months after the singer had split from Marc Anthony, her third ex-husband with whom she shares six-year-old twins Max and Emme.

Prior to Anthony, Lopez had wed and divorced Ojani Noa and Cris Judd. She also had high-profile relationships with rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs and actor Ben Affleck, whom she had been engaged to.
