U.S. actress Jennifer Aniston spoke to students at a Los Angeles school about water nutrition during a recent visit, an education official says.

Alvaro Cortes, assistant superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District's Extended Day Programs, said the Smartwater spokeswoman visited Cahuenga Elementary School this week and spoke about water's importance, People magazine reported Friday.

"She talked about water things," Cortes said of Thursday's visit from the "Friends" star. "She talked to the students about water nutrition and why it's so important for all of us."

People said the 39-year-old actress, who appeared at the school for an after-school program, was chastised by Principal Lloyd Housky for showing up several minutes late. "I understand!" Aniston said in response to the tardiness reprimand. "I got that message from my principal when I was going to school, too!"
