The film follows the relationship between Hammer's 24-year-old character and his on-screen 17-year-old boyfriend (Timothee Chalamet).
Woods criticized the movie in a tweet Sunday, writing, "As they quietly chip away the last barriers of decency. #NAMBLA." Tamblyn jumped in after Hammer responded to Woods with, "Didn't you date a 19 year old when you were 60.......?"
"James Woods tried to pick me and my friend up at a restaurant once. He wanted to take us to Vegas. 'I'm 16' I said. 'Even better' he said," the actress wrote.
Tamblyn's tweet sent social media into a frenzy, with one person questioning Woods, "What makes a 24yo/17yo gay relationship inherently indecent but skeevy old guys trying to pick up a pair of 16 year old girls is okay?"
"The first is illegal. The second is a lie," the actor responded.

Woods followed up Monday night by saying he doesn't "pay any attention really" to criticism online and praising Hammer as an actor.
