The Television Academy permanently expelled Harvey Weinstein after dozens of women accused him of sexual misconduct.
"The unfolding and widespread examples of this horrific behavior are deeply disturbing to the Academy's leadership," the academy said.
"We have been in contact with leaders across the industry and share with them a deep sense of responsibility to provide clear workplace benchmarks reflecting decency and respect."
It also moved to expedite a detailed review and revision of Television Academy membership codes of conduct which began before allegations against Weinstein broke.
The Television Academy began "disciplinary proceedings" after a vote in late October.
Weinstein produced television shows including "Project Runway" and "Project Greenlight."
The Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences and its British counterpart BAFTA also revoked his membership.
