Chris Daughtry is returning to the show that made him a household name to release the first song from his band's second album.

The former American Idol fifth-season finalist and his band Daughtry will perform "No Surprise" -- the first single from their upcoming second album -- during Wednesday night's live results show that will also reveal the eighth-season's Top 3 finalists.

"American Idol fans have been so loyal to this band, we wanted to give them the first listen to our new single," said Daughtry.

The yet-to-be-titled album is currently slated to drop July 14. 

The band -- which consists of Daughtry, bassist Josh Paul, drummer Joey Barnes, and guitarists Brian Craddock and Josh Steely -- is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on the album.

Daughtry's self-titled debut album dropped in November 2006 and sold approximately 304,000 copies in its first week, placing it second on the Billboard 200 album sales chart.  Nine weeks later it reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 and it went on sell 3.2 million copies in its first year of release -- making it the most popular album of 2007.

The band has also received numerous accolades, including 2007 American Music Award honors for Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist and Favorite Breakthrough Artist while their self-titled debut album was also recognized for Favorite Pop or Rock Album.  The band also took home the 2008 AMA for Favorite Band Duo or Group, Pop or Rock Music.

Daughtry's self-titled debut has currently sold 4.2 million copies.
