Chrissy Teigen chose to conceive a daughter during her in vitro fertilization treatment.

The 30-year-old model revealed this information in an interview with People while promoting her cookbook, "Cravings: Recipes for All the Food You Want to Eat," which hit shelves Tuesday.

"I've made this decision," she told the magazine. "Not only am I having a girl, but I picked the girl from her little embryo. I picked her and was like, 'Let's put in the girl.'"

Teigen and husband John Legend conceived via IVF after struggling with fertility issues. The couple announced the model's pregnancy in October and revealed they are having a girl in December.

"I think I was the most excited and allured by the fact that John would be the best father to a little girl," Teigen explained to People. "Just the thought of seeing him with a little girl. I think he deserves a little girl. I think he deserves that bond."

"A boy will come along," she qualified. "We'll get there too, so it's not like we really have to pick. But he is definitely very lucky to have a little girl. And this girl is going to be so completely lucky to have John as her papa -- it's crazy!"

Teigen is known for her modeling work with Sports Illustrated and for co-hosting Spike TV series "Lip Sync Battle" with LL Cool J. She also appeared on Cooking Channel specials and thanked fans for supporting "Cravings" on social media Tuesday.

"Thank you for the enormous turnout to barnes and noble tonight. truly cannot believe it. i had no idea if anyone would come and i could cry," she tweeted.
