Candace Cameron Bure sees a sports therapist for 'Dancing with the Stars' anxiety

UPI News Service, 05/02/2014

Candace Cameron Bure's poorly received routines on Dancing with the Stars are causing her some serious anxiety.

The 38-year-old actress and her partner Mark Ballas have struggled in competition, and recently faced elimination two weeks in a row. Bure tells ABC her underperformance caused her so much stress that she and Ballas recently sought the help of a sports psychology consultant.

"The nervousness and my anxiety has built up each week," the star admits. "It was so bad I felt like I was just cracking under the pressure."

"I felt like when I wasn't performing at my best, I was not only letting myself down but I felt like I was letting my partner down," she continues. "I don't like disappointing people."

Therapy and a successful tango Monday night have helped to rebuild Bure's confidence.

"People need to be open to their flaws and their insecurities and not be ashamed to talk about it," the actress asserts. "None of us are perfect. We all know that."

Dancing with the Stars airs at 8 p.m. ET Mondays on ABC.
