Bret Michaels was rushed to an undisclosed hospital on Friday and is in critical condition after doctors discovered The Celebrity Apprentice participant and former Rock of Love star had suffered a massive hemorrhage causing bleeding at the base of his brain.

"After several CAT scans, MRIs and an angiogram, [doctors] decided to keep Michaels in the ICU and are running several tests to determine the cause," a sources told People in a Friday report, adding Michaels was suffering from severe headaches late Thursday night.

"[It] will be touch and go for the next few days while he is under intense observation."

Michaels' representative confirmed the report and added there will be "no additional information until further testing is done."

The 47-year-old former Poison frontman -- who suffers from diabetes -- was rushed to a San Antonio hospital early last week for an emergency appendectomy after he began to have stomach pains before a scheduled performance at Sea World.

He was subsequently released to a private care facility for diabetics and wrote in a message to fans that he was in a lot of pain but otherwise on the road to recovery.

Michaels is one of seven contestants still in the running on NBC's current The Celebrity Apprentice installment, which filmed last fall.

"I am deeply saddened to hear about Bret Michaels and my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family at this time," said Donald Trump in a media statement. "He's a great competitor and champion and I hope he will be fine."
