Brandon Jones has revealed why he decided to ask The Bachelorette star Michelle Young's parents for their blessing to propose marriage so early in the process, before hometown dates.

During last week's episode of The Bachelorette's eighteenth season, Michelle took Brandon to her childhood home in Minneapolis, MN, for their one-on-one date, and Brandon got to meet her parents, LaVonne and Ephraim Young, unexpectedly.

Brandon therefore jumped at the chance to have a heart-to-heart with Michelle's parents in which he asked for their daughter's hand in marriage.

"That's just kind of me," Brandon explained during a recent episode of "Click Bait with Bachelor Nation" hosted by Joe Amabile, Natasha Parker and Tia Booth.

"I was so invested in Michelle, and I realized, 'I don't know where I'm going to be in this process. I don't know her feelings for the other guys or their connection,' and so I realized this was an opportunity I wasn't going to let go."

Brandon went on to describe himself as a traditional man in relationships.

"Being an old soul that I am, my parents were, like hands down, 'Always ask the parents for one's hand in marriage. Always. It's just a respect thing,'" noted the 26-year-old traveling nurse recruiter from Portland, OR.

Brandon gushed about LaVonne and Ephraim and said, "These are the people who raised that amazing woman, and so, I was like, 'Hey, when am I going to get another chance?'"

Brandon therefore confirmed his move to seek permission to get engaged to Michelle was "a little off script."

"[The producers] called it, 'Brandon's going rogue,'" Brandon revealed on the podcast.

Tia complimented the bachelor and said, "I love the way you worded it, too. You were like, 'If I am lucky to be at the end, I just wanted to ask you guys this.'"

"Yeah it was nice," Joe agreed.

"It was perfect," Tia added. "They didn't seem shocked or put off or anything. They were like, 'Yeah, we think you're great, and if it gets to that point, go for it.' You took a risk and it worked!"

Brandon repeated, "Yeah, that's just me. That was just me."

"I told Michelle, 'Hey, do you think I can talk to your parents?' And she was like, 'Okay, bye.' And so I talked to them," Brandon said.

But Brandon's initial meet and greet with Michelle's parents didn't go as smoothly.

LaVonne and Ephraim walked in on Brandon and Michelle making out in their hot tub. And to make matters worse, Brandon was wearing a pair of swimming trunks that belonged to Michelle's father.

Despite an obviously awkward introduction, Brandon shared how the funny moment "broke the ice" and he was just "so happy" to have been honored with meeting The Bachelorette star's parents so early on.

"It was very special," Brandon recalled. "But I definitely owe [Michelle's dad] a pair of swim trunks... I think later that night, he was like, 'Yeah, you can keep the swim trunks. I don't want these back.'"

Michelle felt right at home with Brandon's family during his hometown date and so he received a rose from the Bachelorette during Tuesday night's episode.

Brandon will therefore proceed to the overnight Fantasy-Suite date portion of the show.

Michelle told Brandon on the latest episode, "It is very clear to me that I am falling for you," which served as "huge" words of affirmation for an ecstatic Brandon.

And Brandon, who called Michelle the woman he had been waiting for, said he wanted to end up with Michelle "more than anything in this entire world."

Also during his podcast appearance, Brandon explained the "wild story" in which he was cast on Michelle's season of The Bachelorette.
