Bobbi Kristina Brown has died at the age of 22 following a six-month battle in the hospital.

Bobbi Kristina, the only child of singer Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston, passed away on Sunday with loved ones at her bedside, People reported.

"Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family," the Houston family said in a media statement. "She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months."

A family member explained to the magazine Bobby is "very emotional, but at the same time, he knows that Krissy is in a better place now. He is taking comfort in the fact that she's with her mother, and that there will be no more sadness or pain."

Bobbi Kristina was found face down and unresponsive in her home's bathtub on January 31. After receiving treatment at a couple of different prestigious care facilities, Bobbi Kristina was moved to hospice care at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, GA, on June 24.

At the time, her aunt Pat Houston had released a statement saying Bobbi Kristina's condition "continued to deteriorate" and she was "in God's hands" from that point forward.

A Brown family source told People that Bobbi Kristina was "skin and bones" just prior to her hospice transfer.

"She has been losing weight, she's been losing hair. They were taking good care of her, but she has no muscle tone at all. There has been some worry that her organs are shutting down," the source said.

On Monday, the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office revealed the time that elapsed from when Bobbi Kristina was first found in the bathtub to her "non-natural" death this past weekend will "complicate" its effort to reconstruct events.

"Interpretation of autopsy findings and other information will also be challenging," the medical examiner's office told the Associated Press in a statement. "However, an autopsy could be helpful to address questions which may arise about the cause of her unresponsiveness and eventual death."

"The Roswell Police Department continues its investigation into the circumstances preceding and surrounding the time of the original incident leading to her death," the medical examiner said, adding that lab testing might take several weeks.

Bobbi Brown got into a fight with her boyfriend Nick Gordon only days before the January 31 incident, according to Us Weekly. Coincidentally, authorities said Bobbi Kristina's body showed signs of foul play when she was discovered in the tub.

The Brown family has reportedly been at odds with Gordon for quite some time although tension in their relationship heightened when the Browns did not allow a "devastated" Gordon to visit Bobbi Kristina throughout her many stages of treatment. The clan has also suggested on numerous occasions Gordon played a role in the 22-year-old's death.

Just last month, Bobbi Kristina's conservators filed a $10 million civil lawsuit against Gordon, whom Houston informally adopted when he was a teen, accusing him of physical assault, robbing Bobbi Kristina and pretending to be her husband as a way to control her interactions with people as well as her finances.

An insider told Us her tumultuous relationship with Gordon put her in a dark place, which only added to the anxiety and depression she had experienced following her mother's eerily similar death in February 2012. Both Whitney, who died at age 48, and her daughter allegedly struggled with substance abuse.
