Bachelor in Paradise couple Krystal Nielson and Chris Randone have announced they've split and decided to separate only eight months after getting married.

Krystal and Chris gave a joint statement on their apparent amicable decision to part ways to The Bachelor's official Bachelor Nation website on Friday.

"It hurts to announce that at this moment, we have mutually decided to separate. Never did we imagine this scenario, but we've come to a point where we both need to work on ourselves," the couple said in the statement.

"We are best friends that love and care for each other so deeply. We've appreciated everyone's love and support so far throughout our journey and we just ask that you please respect our privacy as we navigate through this."

Representatives for Krystal and Chris did not immediately respond when contacted for comment, People reported.

Chris and Krystal, who got engaged on the Season 5 finale of Bachelor in Paradise in September 2018 after having a whirlwind romance, tied the knot in June 2019 in the location where they had enjoyed their first date: Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Chris and Krystal reportedly exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony officiated by The Bachelor franchise host Chris Harrison at the Vidanta Hotel, and their wedding aired on Bachelor in Paradise's sixth season in Summer 2019.

Bachelor Nation's Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon attended the wedding, along with Becca Kufrin and Ben Higgins.

A source told People that Krystal, a fitness coach, and Chris, a sales trainer, had been struggling for a while, even dating back to before their televised nuptials.

"None of their loved ones are shocked by the split," the source shared.

"They weren't ready at all to get married but felt immense pressure from Bachelor Nation to have this happy ending."

The source added that Chris and Krystal's "personalities don't mesh at all."

"They're not on the same page about what they want out of life. They were already struggling before they got married," the source explained.

According to a different insider, Krystal didn't want to stay in an unhealthy relationship just for the sake of maintaining her public image and the idea she was in a perfect marriage.

"She realized the fame, the attention, the influencing is not worth living a lie," the insider shared. "She's someone who tried to make it work but saw that they were not compatible at all."

Krystal and Chris' breakup might come as a shock to fans, however, especially considering the pair had discussed welcoming children soon in August 2019.

"She let it be known that she's off birth control, and I didn't know that," Chris told Us Weekly at the time.

"We're going to spend the rest of the year just detoxing, putting good stuff in our body," Krystal elaborated.

"We want to start trying for a family at the beginning of the year. So we're just using the rest of the year to... get situated -- get our new home [and] take our honeymoon."

Chris and Krystal not only left Paradise with each other, but they also managed to rehab their images and reputations after receiving "villain" edits on Becca's The Bachelorette season and Arie Luyendyk Jr.'s The Bachelor edition, respectively.

"I was very thick-skinned and hard-shelled when I got to Paradise," Chris previously told People. "I was not myself. I was trying to act like this tough guy, that I had an ego."

He continued, "[Krystal] pulled me aside and said, 'You need to be more self-aware or you're going to lose friendships here and you're going to lose me.' I realized that this woman came out of nowhere to give me direction. I felt it from her heart and I realized that if I don't change now and be vulnerable, I'm going to lose this incredible woman."

In October 2018, Krystal and Chris announced they had purchased a home in San Diego, CA, and were moving in together.

Chris reportedly explained at the time things had happened "fast" because a few short weeks of dating in Paradise is the "equivalent to months of dating" in the real world.

The pair's YouTube series called Glitter and the Goose then launched in January 2019.

The news of Krystal and Chris' split comes about a month after fellow Bachelor in Paradise couple Kendall Long and Joe Amabile also called it quits on their relationship.
