Ariana Grande displayed her new gray hair look on Instagram, assuring fans that the new color was not purple.

"Btw (it's gray)," the pop star captioned a selfie of her new hairstyle in reference to how some fans were describing her hair as purple.

The photo features Grande staring into the camera as pink hearts appear at the top of her head.

Grande also displayed the new look alongside a photo of herself posing with a group of friends and her boyfriend, rapper Mac Miller.

Grande was previously known for having red hair while she starred on Nickelodeon shows "Victorious" and "Sam & Cat. "

The singer declared in a 2014 Facebook message that having to constantly dye her locks for four years "completely destroyed" her hair.

"I now wear a wig on Sam & Cat. My real hair is back to brown and I wear extensions but I wear it in a pony tail because my actual hair is so broken that it looks absolutely ratchet and absurd when I let it down," she wrote at the time.

"I tried wigs, they looked RIDICULOUS. Tried a weave because I am working on a new project and want to try some different looks and literally wanted to rip my scalp off," she wrote.

"So as annoying as it is for y'all to have to look at the same hairstyle all the time, it's all that works for now (AND I'm comfortable for the first time in years)...."
