Principal photography has begun in Ontario and Prince Edward Island for Season 2 of the family series "Anne [with an E]."

Inspired by the classic young-adult novel "Anne of Green Gables" by Lucy Maud Montgomery, the show will return for 10 episodes on CBC in Canada and globally on Netflix in 2018.

It stars Amybeth McNulty, Geraldine James, R.H. Thomson, Corrine Koslo, Dalila Bela, Aymeric Jett Montaz, Lucas Zumann and Kyla Matthews.

"Exploring modern topical issues in the world of this beloved character is a thrilling endeavor, and I hope this season ignites, unites, and inspires young people around the world," creator and executive producer/show-runner Moira Walley-Beckett said in a statement.

"Canada has fallen in love with Anne all over again with this remarkable series full of beauty, humor, heartbreak and the poignant portrayal of finding a place to belong," added Sally Catto, general manager of programming at CBC.

"We can't wait to share Season 2 with CBC audiences next year and showcase Anne's incredible talent and creative team to the entire world once again in partnership with Netflix."
