U.S. network ABC is halting production on its 1960s-set stewardess drama "Pan Am," cast member Karine Vanasse said via Twitter Tuesday.

The Hollywood Reporter said ABC made the decision to end the season earlier than scheduled because of its falling ratings. However, the entertainment industry trade newspaper also noted the show has not officially been canceled and could return next season.

The network now plans to produce only one of the five scripts it has left to shoot for the show's first season, bringing to 14 the total of episodes expected to run in 2011-12, the Reporter said.

"Well, we received THE call, #PanAm is only coming back for one more episode after Christmas," Vanasse, who plays Colette, said in her online message. "But up to the end, we'll give it our all!"

The show co-stars Christina Ricci, Mike Vogel, Kelli Garner and Ashley Greene.
