A$AP Rocky was announced Wednesday as the new host for the reimagined 2016 MTV Woodies.
Now renamed the MTV Woodies/10 for 16, the former awards show which honors up-and-coming artists has been revamped for 2016 by only focusing on a select 10 musicians nearing the spotlight.
"Everybody needs support from their friends early on," the rapper says about supporting new artists in a promotional video for the show.
"Our whole thing was we were going to show love to people who we genuinely got respect for or if we [expletive] with their music," he continued. "It's all about love and spreading good music."
The 10 rising acts selected will be revealed at a later date as will the performers. The show is considered a big opportunity for artists to get exposure as past Woodie winners include Drake, Sam Smith and Adele.
A$AP Rocky appeared and performed on the 2014 MTV Woodies, winning an award for his song with Skillrex, "Wild for the Night."
The show is scheduled to air live from the South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas on March 16 at 9 p.m. ET.
