Guinness World Records officials said a group of 1,280 people in China set a record for the world's largest game of tug-of-war.

Wu Xiaohong, a notary for Guinness World Records, said the participants pulled a rope back and forth for more than 3 hours in Ordos City, Xinhua, China's government-run news agency, reported Monday.

Organizers said 128 local businesses and government institutions sent representatives to participate.
