Tempestt Bledsoe (born August 1, 1973 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American actress best known for her role as Bill Cosby's daughter and fourth child, Vanessa Huxtable, in the popular 1980s sitcom The Cosby Show.
As the character of Vanessa Huxtable grew up, she faced typical problems and heartbreaks, usually with Robert, her on-again-off-again boyfriend. She became engaged in the final season to Dabnus, the head of maintenance at her college. They maintained they were "just friends" by the end of the sitcom.
In the mid-1990s, Tempestt enjoyed a short-lived stint as the host of her own daytime talk show, The Tempestt Bledsoe Show. More recently, she has been featured in the role of a single mother on the ABC show The Practice, the Lifetime show Strong Medicine, and South Of Nowhere. Tempestt returned to television in 2006 as a contestant on the third season of VH1's Celebrity Fit Club, where she lost 19 pounds.
In interviews, she is often asked about and speaks of her experiences as a child star together with her co-stars Bill Cosby, Phylicia Rashad, Lisa Bonet, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Sabrina Le Beauf, and Raven-Symone.
Bledsoe is mentioned in Stephen Levitt's book Freakonomics as an example of her first name being mistaken for Temptress.
