Tiara Purifoy Biography (Courtesy Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
Tiara Purifoy (born August 12, 1981 in Beloit, Wisconsin) was a contestant on Season 3 of American Idol.
She auditioned for the competition in Honolulu, where she was at the time vacationing. She had entered the competition the previous year, but was cut before the semi-finals. Her initial audition was never shown, and she was generally unknown to the viewing public throughout the theater stages. Rumors speculate, however, that Tiara never received any negative criticism from the judges and was decked as the front-runner of the competition. Her placement in Group 4 of the semi-finals as the last person to perform that night might confirm such rumors.
For her semi-final performance, Tiara performed Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)." The performance received mixed reviews, as some felt the performance was over-the-top. She did not advance to the Finals, as John Stevens and Jasmine Trias gained the most votes for that night. However, Tiara was chosen to perform in the Wildcard competition by Simon Cowell "based entirely on previous performances," a statement that could validate the rumors of Tiara being the top contestant throughout the theater stages.
Clips of Tiara rehearsing for the Wildcard round reveal she would have sung Deborah Cox's "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here", but Tiara was one of the four contestants asked not to perform at the competition right before it began, along with Marque Lynche, Lisa Leuschner and Eric Yoder. She and the other three contestants were understandably disappointed.
