Kathy Vavrick-O'Brien Biography (Courtesy Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
Kathy Vavrick-O'Brien (born January 6, 1954 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania) was the third-place finisher in the fourth season and finished eighth in the All-Star season.
Before Survivor Marquesas, Kathy was a real estate agent in Burlington, Vermont.
When Kathy competed in Marquesas, she was often seen as the oddball of the show. She started out with the Rotu tribe, but in episode 4, she was switched over to the lacklustre Maraamu with Paschal English and Neleh Dennis. She stayed with the Maraamu alliance after the merge and was part of a large power shift when she helped convince Pascal and Neleh to turn on their former Rotu tribe and side with Maraamu. Kathy narrowly survived finishing fourth place after a deadlock forced a tiebreaker where each castaway drew a stone out of a bag and the one with the stone was immediately voted out. Paschal, despite not receiving a signle vote, drew the stone and left. She finished in third place after being voted out by Neleh.
In Survivor: All Stars, she and Rob Mariano were the only representatives of the Marquesas season. She started out with the Mogo Mogo tribe, but in the ninth episode, she was part of the shift that saw her entire tribe become Chapera and gain Amber. Originally, they were going to target Amber, but Boston Rob convinced Kathy and Lex that if they kept Amber, he would help them once the merge hit and in the end, they voted out Jerri Manthey from their alliance. Once the merge hit and they became part of Chaboga Mogo, Rob broke his word, voting out Lex. Kathy had won immunity and had previously promised to hand it over to Lex during Tribal council, but she broke her word and kept it, resulting in the ousting of Lex. In the next episode, she became the target and was successfully voted out. She had a strong bond with her fellow Mogo Mogo original, Shii Ann Huang, who would make it the furthest of the Mogo Mogos.
