Briana Ramirez-Rial Biography(Courtesy Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Briana Ramirez-Rial (born November 13, 1980 in Klamath Falls, Oregon) was a contestant on Season 3 of American Idol. She entered the competition under the name Briana Garcia, but switched it upon making it into the Top 32.

Often referred to as simply "Bri," Briana was the contestant famous for a very unique, tomboyish image. With her short, spiky hair and array of suspenders, Simon referred to her as "a very confused young lady" after her audition. She sang both Alanis Morissette's "Uninvited" and Etta James' "At Last" to the judges, who felt that her first song was a choice too bizarre upon which to reach a fair verdict. However, after hearing the second song, all three judges agreed she deserved to advance to Hollywood.

During the theater stage of the competition, Bri expressed frustration over incompatibility with her group members. However, Bri managed to survive this and eventually was placed in Group 2 of the semi-finals.

For her semi-final performance, Bri sang Norah Jones' "Don't Know Why," a response to Simon Cowell requesting that she "lighten up a bit." The performance was regarded as a poor choice on Bri's part, and Bri did not move on to the Top 12, as Camile Velasco and Matt Rogers earned the most votes that night. Remarkably, Bri was not visibly shocked or hurt by this during the results show.

Briana is the only contestant on American Idol 3 that is openly gay
