Veronica Sywak is both an Australian IF Award and AFI nominated actress. She was born in Sydney, Australia.

Biography

Sywak's professional career began when she was cast in the 2002 Australian film, Blurred. In 2004, she travelled to the US to study Practical Aesthetics at the Atlantic Theatre Company in New York. After returning to Sydney, she worked on several Australian TV series including Love My Way (Fox8) and All Saints' (Channel 7).

Sywak's film career began to gain momentum in 2007 when she landed the lead role in the Australian film The Jammed, for which she received an IF Award nomination (Best Actress) and an AFI Award nomination (Best Lead Actress). She also appeared opposite Eric Bana in Romulus My Father and in the Jonathan Hensleigh horror, Welcome to the Jungle.

In 2008, Sywak facilitated a screening of "The Jammed" at the United Nations in New York on behalf of the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime. It marked the first Australian film to be screened at the United Nations. Sywak appeared in panel discussion at the United Nations alongside Simone Monasebian Chief of the UNODC New York Office. Returning to Australia, she continued her activism speaking on behalf of Amnesty International and World Vision.

Veronica has a Bachelor of Media and Communications degree from the University of New South Wales. She is currently taking a break from her acting career to pursue a Master's degree in phytotherapy from the University of Technology, Sydney.
