The Nate Berkus Show

The Nate Berkus Show Information

The Nate Berkus Show, commonly referred to as The Nate Show, is a syndicated talk show hosted by interior designer Nate Berkus, which premiered on September 13, 2010.

The series is one of three spinoffs of The Oprah Winfrey Show; both Dr. Phil (which, like The Oprah Winfrey Show, is produced and distributed by CBS Television Distribution) and The Dr. Oz Show (produced and distributed by Sony Pictures Television Distribution) are the other two, although The Doctors (also produced and distributed by CBS Television Distribution) itself is a spinoff of Dr. Phil.

Development and production

The show is produced by Harpo Productions and distributed by Sony Pictures Television Distribution, and taped in HD video at CBS studios in New York. It is being distributed by Sony, after Sony and NBCUniversal made agreements to launch the show on all 10 NBC owned and operated stations, as well as Harpo Productions.

The show's premiere has come in response to the cancellation of The Bonnie Hunt Show which was not renewed for the 2010-11 season. As a result, most NBC stations (especially NBC owned and operated stations) were having trouble finding daytime programming. Broadcasting and Cable reported that NBC syndicated daytime programming, aside from The Ellen DeGeneres Show, "have been largely out of the daytime game," primarily because of low to lukewarm ratings for Bonnie Hunt's show.

In August 2010, it was announced that the first guest on the show is confirmed to be Dolly Parton which premiered on September 13, 2010.

Ratings

When the show debuted, Nate Berkus had a 1.1 rating, which was the highest rating for a new daytime talk show, although the rating showed only half of what the ratings for Dr. Oz was. However, the show could not gain high ratings in the long run.

Cancellation

On December 9, 2011, it was announced that the show would not return for a third season. The show ended on May 24, 2012 with reruns airing through August 31, 2012 (although it aired on other local stations through September 7, 2012). Reruns of The Nate Berkus Show will start airing on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, along with Seasons 1-5 of Rachael Ray.
