Life and career

Lawson was born in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Judy, a homemaker, and Mike Lawson, a hotel manager. She attended Assumption High School, an All-Girls Catholic school. Early on, she co-hosted WDRB Fox 41 Kid's Club in Louisville. In 2000, she starred in Model Behavior, a Disney Channel movie featuring Justin Timberlake. She also made guest appearances on television series such as Smallville and Fear Itself.

She co-starred in the USA Network original series, Psych, as Detective Juliet O'Hara. Lawson dated fellow Psych co-star James Roday for eight years; the show ended its run in 2014.

In 2011 she was the star of a play called Greedy, directed by Roday, which played for a few weekends in Los Angeles.

In 2011, she performed a short skit called "A Date with Diana" for Funny or Die. In it, she played Wonder Woman and went on a date with a fan.

Lawson starred in the ABC sitcom Back In The Game, which was picked up for the 2013 fall season. The tenth episode was aired on December 11, 2013. ABC has not aired the remaining three episodes of its original 13-episode order, but may do so at a later date.
