Laurel Goodwin

Laurel Goodwin Biography

Laurel Goodwin (born August 11, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas) is a former American actress.

Acting history

A child model, Goodwin made her screen debut as the love interest of Elvis Presley in the 1962 film, Girls! Girls! Girls!. Between then and 1969, she appeared in three more films and as a guest actor on several television series.

She was a co-star in the 1962 Paramount comedy, Papa's Delicate Condition, playing Augusta Griffith, the daughter of Jack and Amberlyn Griffith. Augusta becomes distraught as her father (played by Jackie Gleason) makes some questionable business deals under the influence of alcohol and, without consulting the rest of the family, causing strife within the household and making her beau's dad, who happens to be the local bank owner, forbid his offspring from associating with the Griffith family.

She is noted for the role of Yeoman J. M. Colt in "The Cage", the first pilot episode of the original Star Trek series, which never aired. The first pilot footage was later incorporated into the two-part episode entitled "The Menagerie".

Personal Life

In 1971, Goodwin married Walter Wood, a business executive, and for many years the couple lived in New York. They now live in Palm Springs, California, where Goodwin has pursued a career in home nursing. Although she had attended a few Elvis Presley conventions over the years, it was not until 2005 that she attended her first Star Trek convention.
