Isabelle Nuru Biography

Belle Gisele Nuru (born November 12, 1987), is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, and A&R executive.

Career

1999-2003: early years and debut album

Born in New York City to a mother of Brazilian, Colombian, and Irish descent and a father of Ethiopian descent, Nuru began actively pursuing a recording contract in late 1999, Nuru eventually gained the attention of music mogul Clive Davis, whom proceeded to sign Nuru to his J Records label in early 2001, while Nuru was only thirteen years old. Her debut album "Thank You" was released on May 3, 2002 and became a moderate success. The musically R&B/Pop album produced two singles, the uptempo "Suffocate" and the ballad "Regret". Work on Nuru sophomore album was initially planned for late 2003, but Nuru decided to postpone the project indefinitely, in favor of pursuing a full time career as a songwriter

2004-present: songwriting, Sony executive positions, other ventures

Following the postponement of her second album, Nuru began actively writing for a majority of her fellow Sony roaster mates, especially those whom were under the direction of Clive Davis, including Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, Fantasia, Jordin Sparks, and Jennifer Hudson, among others. She played a major role in the career of these artist, along with later writing for others such as Beyonce and Adele. Additionally, she has composed music for major films and television, overall more than 120 of her songs have been included on major label releases. Outside of songwriting, Nuru went on to hold numerous executive positions for various Sony owned labels.

In 2016, Nuru announced that she had created a hybrid songwriting/singing competition show named "The Perfect Love Song" for the Lifetime television network. The show will take 12 singer-songwriter hopefuls and test them in a variety of songwriting subjects pertaining to love. The show is set for a 2017 premiere.

Nuru will executive produce the sequel to the 2003 film The Fighting Temptations, along with having a starring role.
