Gabor, 93, fell at home and had hip surgery Monday at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.
Her husband, Frederic von Anhalt, told the Los Angeles Times his wife spoke a few words Saturday but was still in critical condition.
She had a blood transfusion Friday night and her doctors expressed hope she would soon be eating on her own, von Anhalt told the newspaper.
Gabor's publicist said the actress may have suffered a concussion along with the broken arm when she fell out of bed while trying to answer the telephone on July 17.
