Yusef Jackson, son of the Rev. Jesse Jackson and a beer distributor co-owner, is reviving Radar, a New York cultural magazine.

Jackson said his company, Integrity Multimedia Co. LLC, which was incorporated in March, is committed to supporting the publication for at least five years. The amount of the investment was not disclosed, but it was reported to be in the millions of dollars.

Radar started up in 2003 with financing from Mort Zuckerman, a real estate developer and publisher, but lasted for only two issues. The magazine was revived in December 2005, but only lasted for three issues, Crain's Chicago Business reported.

John Cook, a former reporter for the Chicago Tribune who wrote articles for earlier versions of Radar, has been hired as a senior editor to write investigative pieces for the print publication and Web site.

Jackson also said he would be interested in buying the Chicago Sun-Times.

"I think it's a great Chicago media property with an amazing Chicago heritage," Jackson said.

He said he would be interested acquiring local Chicago Tribune assets, as well, but Tribune Chairman Dennis FitzSimons said they are not for sale.
