WWE Smackdown: Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn hug it out

UPI News Service, 10/11/2017

Bitter rivals are best friends once again as Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn expressed their admiration for each other Tuesday on Smackdown Live following the events of Hell in a Cell.

Appearing battered from his Hell in a Cell match against Smackdown commissioner Shane McMahon, Owens came out to the ring to introduce Zayn whom he was now referring to as his guardian angel.

Zayn, all smiles, then proceeded to explain why he saved Owens from McMahon on Sunday as the commissioner dived towards him with a high-flying elbow from the top of the Hell in a Cell structure.

According to Zayn, he felt mistreated on Smackdown and ignored by McMahon after he was lured over to the blue brand from Raw months ago and he always sat waiting patiently for his opportunity to shine while he noticed his contemporary Owens win championship after championship while he spit in the face of authority and rules.

Zayn then declared that McMahon did not care about anyone but himself and that is why he saved Owens from the elbow drop. After referring to themselves as brothers, the pair then shared an emotional hug in the middle of the ring before continuously raising each other's hands up in celebration.

With Zayn back on his side and McMahon momentarily out of commission, Owens feels he now controls Smackdown Live.

Also on Tuesday, AJ Styles used his rematch clause against Baron Corbin to try and regain the United States Championship he lost Sunday to The Lone Wolf.

The main event of the night, The Phenomenal One was in control of the match until he appeared to hurt himself after he lifted up the much heavier Corbin into the air before crashing his opponent down onto his knee.

Styles was left in even worse condition when Corbin viciously threw him shoulder-first into the ground outside the ring. Corbin then won the match after he nailed Styles with the End of Days for the three count allowing Corbin to remain the United States Champion.

"Every single one of you can look at this championship and EAT IT!" Corbin said to the crowd during a post-match interview.

Other moments from Smackdown included Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin winning a Fatal 4-Way Match to earn the right to face The Usos for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship; Becky Lynch defeating Carmella; Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton defeating Rusev and Aiden English; and Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler continuing to have a war of words that will culminate in a match next week.
