Would-be kidnapper of David Letterman's son to get 15 year sentence
UPI News Service, 07/12/2005
The Montana man accused of plotting to kidnap the young son of CBS late night host David Letterman will spend at least 15 years in prison.
Kelly Frank pleaded guilty in Conrad, Mont., Monday to felony theft, misdemeanor obstruction and possessing illegally killed wildlife. In return, a felony solicitation charge against him was dropped, the World Entertainment News Network reported Tuesday.
Frank, a handyman, was arrested in March after an informant told police he was planning to kidnap Letterman's young son, Harry, from the TV star's Montana ranch.
The plea agreement calls for a 10-year prison term for theft and five years for the wildlife possession charge. Sentencing is scheduled for September.
