Two Ohio residents are taking the Lowman Lumber Company to court after having their woods in Dayton illegally logged.

As hard as it is to imagine woods being stolen, Mary Ellen Muench and Jeanne Estep can vouch that the tree theft did happen, the Dayton Daily Record reported.
Muench and Estep had refused repeated offers from Larry Green to buy the woods on behalf of the Ohio-based lumber company.
After realizing what was going on, Muench phoned the police and eventually discovered that Estep's tenant, Kenneth West, allegedly allowed the timber sale in exchange for $13,000.
The check and an entire trailer loaded with logs from the woods was seized.
Most lumber-related crimes do not go to criminal court and are usually dealt with in civil court, but two factors are different in this case.
First, the theft was reported to police, and second, Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck said once he walked the land and viewed the extent of loss and damage he became determined to pursue criminal charges.
