The paper said that makes Warners the first international distributor to cross the $2 billion threshold in a single year, and demonstrates the increasing significance of international box-office returns.
The studio's overseas grosses were led by three pictures that have taken in more than $300 million each in foreign markets -- "The Last Samurai,""Troy" and "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban."
The paper said United International Pictures -- a joint venture that distributes films abroad for Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks -- is expected to hit the $2 billion mark this month.
The previous record for overseas grosses in a single year was $1.95 billion, set in 1998 by 20th Century Fox International. The all-time box-office champion "Titanic" accounted for $1.2 billion of that figure.
