Valuable necklace stolen from Sam's Club

UPI News Service, 01/25/2007

Florida thieves made off with a necklace worth $263,574 from Sam's Club -- a store better known for bulk toilet paper and food than diamonds and jewels.

"If somebody is not familiar with Sam's Club, they will be pleasantly surprised," said company spokeswoman Susan Koehler told the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times. "That's the fun of it. When you go in, you never know what you're going to find."

The store in Carrollwood, owned by Wal-Mart, is open to any shoppers who pay the annual fee.

There have been no arrests in the Tuesday night heist, the newspaper said. There was no word on whether any cartons of toilet paper were also missing.
