UPI News Service, 09/21/2009

A Utah man is the newest millionaire the world of golf after winning a hole-in-one contest that followed a charity golf tournament.

Jason Hargett, 35, of Springville, a scratch golfer who manages a restaurant in Provo, was one of six players who qualified for the contest by hitting closest to the cup on a par-3 hole in the Mark Eaton Celebrity Golf Classic at Red Ledges Golf Resort east of Heber City.

For the hole-in-one contest, the six players shot at a 150-yard hole set in a temporary green carved into the resort's driving range.

The second golfer to tee off, Hargett hit a shot that landed 10 feet past and to the right of the cup, then rolled backward and fell in.

Hargett had hurt his wrist and loaned his clubs to his brother, so he almost didn't play in Eaton's charity event.

His plans for the million-dollar prize include making sure it gets his four children through college.
