The project was previously known as "In Plain Sight," and is about Mary Shannon, a U.S. marshal who tries to balance her job at the witness-protection program with her dysfunctional personal life, the Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday.
The show is written by David Maples and produced by NBC Universal Network TV. The production on the series will start this summer, planning for a fourth quarter 2008 launch.
"When you've got something so good, you don't let it go," USA's executive vice president of original programming, Jeff Wachtel, said of the network's decision.
"It has a wonderfully skewed heroine at its center, and then there is Mary McCormack," he said. "She is the heart and the soul of the series who brings a sexy spirit to it."
