The New York neighborhood that serves as a set for the TV series "Rescue Me" was racked by real-life violence when two men were gunned down.

One of the bodies was found a block from the Long Island City firehouse where actor Dennis Leary was expected to be filming Monday, the New York Post reported.
Curtis Wilkes and Carl Taylor were shot early Sunday, the Post reported. One police theory is that Wilkes shot Taylor as reprisal for a robbery of a store-front gambling joint and that a friend of Taylor's then shot Wilkes.
In "Rescue Me," shown on the cable network FX, Leary plays Tommy Gavin, a veteran firefighter with a marriage gone bad. The show deals with his difficulties and those of other members of Engine Company 62.
